What results are achieved if the Top Management Team interacts more?

Effective cooperation between people internally and externally in an organization is more important than ever – and a prerequisite for success. The annual Global Human Capital Trends 2018 report by Deloitte points out that senior executives should increasingly engage in cross-functional collaboration with other departments in the organization.

According to Deloitte’s report, we can in the future expect far more organizations facilitating such cross-functional cooperation within top management. A first step in achieving such cooperation is for the CEO to decide how different managers can work closer to each other’s departments.

Furthermore, the CEO should facilitate more cross-functional projects and not least advocate the importance of cross-functional cooperation. This largely concerns utilizing the resources of the company best as possible, without allowing departmental authority to set limits.

However, enhanced collaboration can only succeed across the board if company leaders see the actual value of such cooperation. The CEO can highlight the positive aspects, but leaders must experience firsthand that increased cooperation also provides better results, not only for the department, but the company as a whole.
